The ranking counts a list of over 2500 articles published since the launch of the Decision Science Journal in 1970 . Since its publication in the journal in 2009, the article by Ari-Pekka Hameri, and his co-authors, Professor Jan Holmström from Aalto University in Finland and Professor Mikko Ketokivi from the IE Business School in Spain, has been downloaded more than 8100 times.

In the article, the researchers explore the different ways of supplementing problem-solving research and university research with a focus on theory.

Very often there is a divergence of interests between theoretical and academic research, and the managerial practice. The research carried out by Prof. Hameri and his co-authors explores the different ways of supplementing problem-solving research and university research with a focus on theory. For sure, the challenge of making university research relevant to practitioners is not an easy task, but that might be the reason of the research success.

“This milestone is an indication that design science approach is gaining momentum in management studies. This is great news both to managers and academics as design science approach aims to bridge practice to theory, not vice versa, theory to practice, concludes Prof. Ari-Peka Hameri.
